Lander Vandecaveye (34) appointed as new General Director of Volley Vlaanderen
Volley Vlaanderen will soon welcome a new general director. Starting at the end of September, Lander Vandecaveye will take over from Filip Buijs, who is stepping down from the organization after a period in which he guided the federation through a challenging phase and laid the foundations for its reconstruction.
Lander Vandecaveye’s passion goes beyond the volleyball court. Alongside his career as a top-level athlete, he also built an impressive professional path in start-up and scale-up environments, where he quickly stood out thanks to his strategic insight, innovative mindset, and result-oriented approach. He has repeatedly proven his ability to make an impact in complex and evolving contexts, and to build sustainable partnerships. His approach is focused on collaboration, innovation, and creating value for the entire volleyball community.
“Volleyball shaped me as a person. Now I want to give back by helping to build a federation that is just as ambitious as the athletes we work for, and in doing so, help shape the future of our sport.” — Lander Vandecaveye
The choice for Lander was a deliberate one, emphasizes Gerrit Matthys, president of Volley Vlaanderen:
“We consciously chose Lander because of his strong entrepreneurial spirit, his ability to build partnerships, and his talent for driving change in challenging contexts. We believe he is the right person to guide our federation and community of volleyball enthusiasts into a new phase. He radiates passion in everything he does, with a forward-looking and unifying leadership style — a combination that fits perfectly with the ambitions of Volley Vlaanderen.”
Volley Vlaanderen thanks outgoing general director Filip Buijs for his dedication and vision. His role in rebuilding the federation has been invaluable. The federation wishes him every success in his future endeavors.
